May at the Merrell's 2013

Alice had her first  end-of-semester ballet performance for parents.  She really enjoyed taking the classes, and enjoyed the attention of having people watch her performance even more!  Alice is still a little less about learning ballet moves and a little more about "getting to wear a tutu and show off"!

She is definitely not ready for the Lone Star Ballet, but this tidbit of the performance (though a little rough around the edges) is too cute to miss!

Here is Alice looking very "Hollywood" while enjoying her new swing set!

This cardboard box was a big hit!  When the girls got in, Alice said they were going to the moon in a rocket ship, and Eleanor didn't care where they were headed...she was just happy she got to sit in it with Alice.

Here are a couple of pictures of Alice and Daddy at Home Depot's Build and Learn.  He takes her every month, but this time they were building me a Mother's Day gift.  Who doesn't need a hot pink
3 inch flower pot holder, right?!

Some family photos from Mother's Day

We have always participated in a lot of the children's activities at our library, but now Eleanor is really starting to enjoy them too.  Here is a shot of them at Laugh and Learn listening to the story together.

The next week there was a "Princesses and Pirates" party at the library.  Though Alice was not excited to wake up from her nap early (as seen in the first photo), she was super excited to get to dress up like Cinderella and head out in public.

The girls are already making the most of the summertime heat as the mercury begins to rise around here.  Alice likes to play in the sprinkler, and Eleanor loves to watch her from a blanket.

Just another photo I like of the sisters...

We surprised Alice with her first "big kid" bike!

Eleanor got some new wheels too!

Cuter than Minnie Mouse herself!

In late May, we had a tornado warning and everyone had to pile into the back of Daddy's closet in the middle of the night.  These two girls didn't seem to mind a bit, and Alice was just tickled to get to eat a midnight snack!  Luckily, our house was fine other than a mess of tree limbs.

Alice failed to clean up her mess and put up her toys one night, so we decided to put her dress-up dresses in the closet for two days to help her "remember" why it is important to clean up.  Her dress-up clothes are her most prized possession, so I thought this would be a good way to teach her some responsibility.  It didn't stop her from coming up with a costume the next day.  After a little toy box digging, she came up with this ridiculous ensemble.  At least she is creative...!

Even better was what I found when I went into her room.  She had pulled together a costume for Eleanor too so they could still be dressed up for their tea party!

A couple of pics from a trip to the park.  Eleanor looks just like her Dad with her baby shades on!

Eleanor turned 7 months old!  This was a tough photo to get.  Everything goes into her mouth at this point, so in most of the shots she is eating my "7 months old" card.

We took the girls to Medi-Park on a beautiful Sunday afternoon to feed the ducks and play at the playground.  Alice ate more of the stale snacks that we brought for the ducks than she actually fed to them.

...and a big jump as we head forward into June!
